While I mentioned Daryl Hall, its deffo worth looking at the rest of his Daryl's House stuff on youtube.
Plays live with some old and new artists, bit of a Jools Holland for the USA.
This is him with KT Tunstall which is very good. His voice is still brilliant and she holds her own.

Very good band who may have been underestimated due to success of Eliminator.
Billy Gibbons is a monster.
Check this out from Daryl Halls (love that guys voice) TV show. Fucking awesome chops, but effortless. Makes me puke.

I was in the studio when they were on Later with Jools Holland - very good but the only band to do a retake. Perfectionists or prima-donnas, not sure. They're talented but a bit samey, like an American Status Quo.
As for the original post, I understood Hendrix rated Rory Gallagher as the best guitarist in the world.

For those who haven't seen it check out utube for live version of "I need you tonight" from double down live. Super cool musicians at the top of their game, not taking themselves too seriously and a few "pretty girls" too. Class act.

Great band - really gutted that I never got to see them live. Have enjoyed some of their tracks by The Hamsters over the years though.

Can't doing with all of the famous stuff though. Gimme all you lovin, Sharp dressed man et all are a little puzzling if you listen to the early stuff. Too over produced. They play the Blues like it's just been invented before that.
